Dominic Wong – The Guitarist and Singer

A versatile acoustic guitarist and singer, Dominic Wong started out playing popular cover songs at various street events and pubs at the tender age of 16. Deeply motivated by the passion and sincerity that professional pub singers conveyed to their audiences through music, he slowly but surely built up his repertoire hoping that one day, someone somewhere would put him up on a stage – hopefully for life.

To date, ‘Dom’, as he is affectionately called by many, has made appearances across a spectrum of venues ranging from the underpass at Wheelock Place with his guitar and harmonicas to the University Cultural Centre (more popularly known as the ‘National Day Rally Venue’) and the posh stage of Bellini Grande in his coat and tie. But his most satisfying gigs have always been at weddings or birthday parties where friends and family come together as one to dine and have fun.

A strong opponent of songs written for songs’ sake, Dom has a carefully crafted repertoire of melodic yet meaningful songs that weaves the music of today together with that of a time when sober songwriters were practically unheard of (think ‘Puff The Magic Dragon’ and ‘Cocaine’). In the sets that Dom plays, Dylan and the media get along fine and Simon and Garfunkel are good friends again.

In short, whatever your favourite music is, whatever milestone in your life you’re marking, somewhere in there, Dom has a song just for you.
