Birthday Dinner at Café Iguana

Although I’ve passed by Cafe Iguana @ Riverside Point a couple of times, it has never occurred to me that they were a Mexican restaurant and bar until I dined in at their Greenwood Avenue branch on my birthday!

Greenwood Avenue is located behind National Junior College (along Bukit Timah Road). There are several cosy restaurants and bars located on a stretch of shophouses among the private houses.

Adopting a Mexican theme, Cafe Iguana was filled with colours of green, red and yellow. Generally, it had a very casual feel and the ambience was good for a laid back outing with friends.

Check out the green, red and yellow chairs!

The Iguana on the wall was really eye-catching!

Did I mention that the staff there were really friendly and helpful? We weren’t familiar with Mexican food, so after some recommendations, here was what we had…

i 5

Complimentary Nachos! They didn’t taste fantastic, but its always good to have something to keep your mouth busy while you wait for your food right? =)

i 7

Quesadillas – Flour tortillas filled with cheese and mushroom ($11.99)

i 6

Grilled Prawn Fajitas ($24.99) – The prawns tasted great, but the sauce was a little overbearing

i 8

Half Chicken Tequila Grill ($23.99) – The skin was the best part!!

Overall an enjoyable dining experience.  We had fun trying out the Mexican dishes and taking pictures of the restaurant. We missed out on the drinks though. Heard they serve pretty good margaritas! Will definitely give it a try on my next visit.

For those interested in holding their birthday party there, a Mexican theme will certainly be ideal. The whole setting is Mexican so get your guests to dress up in green, red or yellow!
